Roku is one of the most popular streaming players in Canada, but it handles IPTV apps differently. Here is what to know before you use IPTV on a Roku.

Roku players and Roku TVs are in a lot of Canadian living rooms. They are simple, cheap and fast, which is exactly why so many people ask whether IPTV works on them. The short answer is yes, IPTV Canada Stream supports Roku, but Roku works differently from devices like the Amazon Fire TV, and it helps to know why before you start.

Why Roku is different

Roku devices run Roku’s own operating system. Apps (Roku calls them channels) are installed from the Roku Channel Store, and Roku decides which apps appear there. On many other platforms, such as Android TV or Fire TV, there is a wider choice of IPTV player apps. On Roku the choice is narrower, so the method that works best can depend on your model.

That is why we do not publish one set of Roku steps for everyone. We ask for your exact model and send the method that suits it.

Find your Roku model

On your Roku, go to Settings, then System, then About. You will see the model name and number and the software version. Send a photo of that screen when you message us; it is all we need.

What else to check on your Roku

Your connection

Roku players connect over Wi-Fi, and some models and Roku TVs also have a network port. If your Roku sits behind the TV far from the router, the signal may be weak. Roku shows the signal strength under Settings, then Network, then About. Our guide to internet speed for IPTV in Canada explains what to look for.

Software updates

Keep your Roku up to date. Go to Settings, then System, then System update, and check for updates before you set up IPTV.

Screen mirroring

Many Roku models support screen mirroring from Android phones and Windows computers, and some support Apple AirPlay. If a direct app is not available for your model, mirroring can be an option. We will tell you which approach fits your device.
